The objective of the training is to equip you with the tools that would be essential to you for working in a virtual office environment. As you may know, we do not have a physical office and our virtual office enables our staff who are from different corners of the world to work from the comfort and convenience of their homes.

The VOT is made up of 10 tools categorised as Internet Basics, Microsoft Office Essentials, Cloud Storage and Messaging . Each of the tools are made up of step-by-step tutorials designed for effective learning. There are exercises and quizzes that you need to answer. You are required to complete and pass all the required activities in order to qualify for the certificate of completion. On completion of the course, you will be able to apply the tools in your day-to-day tasks.

Welcome to the course Fundamentals of Mentoring

Are you seeking for career growth? Are you seeking to enhance your leadership skills while also helping others to learn, grow, and develop their abilities? Or are you seeking someone who can help you to do these things? Nowadays, more professionals are actively seeking for mentorship to advance their careers. Having this kind of initiative can boost your career whether you’re on the receiving end or the giving end.  Mentoring has benefits to both individuals personally and professionally. The experience and wisdom are one of the qualities that can be learned in mentoring.  It can enhance communication skills, broaden perspectives, and explore alternative approaches to problems.

In this course, it will discuss what mentoring/mentor is and why it is important.  Should you decide to help others, ask for help from others or both. We will also discuss the differences between mentoring and other types of professional career development activities. 

Course Objectives

Upon completion of the course, learners will be able to:
  • To highlight the key points of mentorship and mentor
  • To identify the difference between coaching and mentoring
  • To explain the importance of mentoring
  • To distinguish the benefits of mentorship to mentor and mentee
  • To determine the different approach to be a good mentor
  • To discuss different methods of mentoring

Course Outline
There are THREE parts in the e-learning module:
(1) learners will learn what mentoring is and its importance, and approach and methods to mentoring;
(2) learners participate in TWO case studies and answer all questions in the discussion boards
(3) learners will attempt all quizzes in the course. 

Learning Methodology

The course is open for TWO weeks upon enrolment and learners in which learners must complete within this time frame. In this course, learners are required to complete the e-learning section.
  • Learners are required to participate and answer the case studies in the discussion boards.
  • Learners are required to attempt all the quizzes in the course.
  • All the activities above must be completed by learners in order to pass the course.
  • Learners can utilize the articles provided to enhance their understanding on mentoring and to answer case studies in the course.

Essential Business Writing(pilot)

Introduction

In every business sector, the ability to communicate coherently is a must-have skill. Effective business writing will help you get the results you want when dealing with co-workers or clients and earn respect from your peers. These step-by-step guides will facilitate the process of mastering the skills in writing effective business documents.

Unlike many business writing courses, this is an outcomes-based course. Participants get hands-on practice using the writing platform corrector, followed by online and offline coaching sessions to evaluate their skills in writing.  

Course Objectives

Upon completion of the course, the learners will be able to:

  • Apply the skills and techniques to write efficiently and effectively
  • Design the appropriate writing style according to the audience and goals of the document
  • Convey more precise and concise messages in business documents

Course Outline
The course will be presented in six major parts:

MODULE 1: Writing Principles 1
This module is a review of some of the basics of English grammar to improve your skills in writing clear and effective messages. It includes lessons about writing actively in parallel structure, recognizing the correct subject-verb agreement in sentences, connecting ideas, and applying the right pauses using punctuations. 

MODULE 2: Writing Principles 2
Sentences and paragraphs are the building blocks of a written work. To construct a solid and compelling business document, you must ensure that your sentence structures are correct, and your paragraphs convey a clear and accurate message. This module includes lessons in writing simple, compound, and complex sentences, writing a complete paragraph, executing different tones in your writings in accordance with your audience, and applying the 5Cs in writing.  

MODULE 3: Different Types of Business Documents
There are various types of written documents used in a daily business operation. Each document serves a distinct purpose. This module includes lessons about the purposes of business writing in different types of business documents, how to plan your writing, and how to write persuasively. 

MODULE 4: Writing a Professional Email
Email is one of the most commonly used modes of communication in the workplace. Having the skill of writing effective professional emails makes you competent in your role at your company. This module includes lessons about writing emails professionally, employing the commonly used words or phrases, and tips in good writing.

MODULE 5: Writing Agenda, Minutes, and Memo
Attending a meeting is an essential component of a productive workplace. Meetings can be used to convey critical information, address problems, and provide project direction. This module includes lessons in writing two essential documents in a meeting—meeting agenda and meeting minutes. It also includes a lesson in developing internal documents, such as a memorandum.

MODULE 6: Revising, Editing, and Proofreading
The final stage in writing is to ensure that the message for the reader is clear and correct.  This module will show you the final tasks of revising, editing, and proofreading to give your writing that professionalism and polish before it is sent.

Learning Methodology

  1. In this course, you are required to go through all six modules. You are encouraged to read all the reading materials and watch all the videos provided in each module to strengthen your understanding of business writing essentials.
  2. Participating in discussion boards is required to gain access to the succeeding modules.
  3. You must complete all the activities included to pass this course.
